Private Investigators in
Willow Springs, Illinois

Willow Springs is a small village almost entirely surrounded by forest preserve, canal and quarry land in the Des Plaines valley, with a modest residential centre. It is the least built-up place on this list and the hardest ground to work. Long stretches of road carry no housing at all, so there is nothing to sit behind and no innocent reason for a second vehicle to be sitting there. Three parallel waterways run through the village — the river itself and two canals — and the crossings over them are few. That cuts both ways. A route is unusually predictable, but a contact lost at a bridge can take half an hour to recover, because the next crossing may be two miles off. Much of the road network is unlit after dark.

Why we are called to Willow Springs

What makes the work here different.

  • 01Long unbuilt stretches of road where a following vehicle has no cover whatsoever
  • 02Few crossings over three waterways, making a route predictable but a lost contact slow to recover
  • 03Extensive preserve and quarry land with vehicle access and no overlooking premises
  • 04A very small resident population, so anyone unfamiliar is noticed immediately

About Willow Springs

A little history of Willow Springs.

Named for the springs and the willows along the Des Plaines valley, the village grew with the canal trade and the limestone quarries worked along it, and incorporated in 1892. The cutting of the sanitary and ship canal at the turn of the century added a third waterway beside the river and the older towpath canal. It has stayed small, hemmed in by preserve, water and worked-out quarry ground — which is why so much of its area remains genuinely undeveloped.

We have worked across Cook County since 1991. Knowing a community — how it was laid out, how it grew, how people actually move through it — is part of how an investigation gets done properly here.
