Camera systems, access control and alarms — designed, installed and monitored, including covert installations where a business has a theft problem it cannot see.

Four panels: a technician installing a CCTV camera, a reader at a controlled door, an alarm panel, and a monitoring station showing multiple camera feeds.
Design, installation, access control, alarms and monitoring. Illustrative — real client premises are never published.
Four panels showing miniature covert cameras and the everyday fixtures they are concealed in — an exit sign, an electrical outlet and a smoke detector.
Covert installations for internal theft investigations, placed only where the law plainly permits. See the limits below. Illustrative.

Two quite different jobs sit under this heading. One is building a system: specifying cameras, access control and alarms for premises that need them, installing them properly, and monitoring them afterwards. The other is examining a system that already exists, which is usually prompted by something happening that it failed to capture.

That second conversation is the more common one, and the finding is rarely that more cameras are needed. It is that the cameras already there are pointed at the wrong things, recording at a quality that cannot identify anybody, overwriting faster than incidents get reported, or covering the areas that were easy to wire rather than the areas where loss occurs. A review starts from the question the system is meant to answer — identifying a face at an entrance, reading a plate at a gate, and establishing what happened on a shop floor are three different technical problems, and a camera that solves one will usually fail the others.

Covert installation is a separate discipline again. Where a business is losing stock and cannot see how, cameras concealed in ordinary fixtures put eyes on the place the loss is actually happening. That work has real legal limits, set out below, and there are installations we will decline.

The same scrutiny applies to access: who holds keys and codes, whether anybody ever revoked them, which doors are genuinely secured outside hours, and who is in the building when nobody is watching.

What this covers

Included in an engagement.

  • Camera system design, specification and professional installation
  • Access control for doors, windows and entry points, with key and code review
  • Intrusion, fire and environmental alarm systems
  • Monitoring, live view, recording and retention
  • Covert camera installation for internal theft investigations
  • Assessment of an existing system, and whether its footage would stand up in a proceeding

Said plainly

What this service cannot do.

Worth reading before you instruct anybody in this profession, including us.

  • Illinois requires the consent of all parties to record a private conversation. Systems we install do not capture audio unless the law plainly permits it in that setting, and we will tell you when it does not.
  • There are places a camera cannot lawfully go, whoever owns the building — bathrooms, changing areas, and anywhere else a person is entitled to expect privacy. We will not install one there, and you should be wary of anyone who offers to.
  • A camera documents an incident. It does not prevent one, and it should not be bought as though it will.
